Julie began her Pilates training at age 13 while studying at the School of American Ballet with Pilates’ elder Carola Trier. After Carola’s passing, before it was in the public eye, she continued her studies with many other Pilates pioneers, such as Robert Fitzgerald, Peter Vaillancourt and eventually to the leading teachers in the field, Sari Meija Santo and Romana Kryzanowska the world-renowned protégé of Joseph Pilates who has been teaching the method for nearly six decades.
Finding it didn’t take a dancer at all to reap the benefits of the work she expanded her training to become a teacher receiving her certification through Romana’s Pilates. She is qualified to teach in over 300 Pilates studios internationally, Frankfurt Germany being the first she experienced outside the U.S. with Mayra Rodriguez de Matthews. Her training, under the tutelage of Sari Meiji Santo, Romana Kryzanowska, Daria Pace, Kyra Strasberg, and all the instructors and apprentices in Romana’s training program was and continues to be invaluable to her work and constant improvement.
Julie continues to be tested by clients with all kinds of challenges and injuries and finds with proper form and technique the Pilates work can help anyone. Keeping with the traditional/classical teachings of Joseph Pilates, one’s alignment and strength are never ending and are always improving in order to move forward with less physical limitations, more posture and mobility, and a general improved ease about one’s body and quality of life.
